Plant biodiversity in the highlands of eastern Brazil: Current patterns and historical construction
Project summary:
Highlands in east Brazil (BH) presents high biodiversity within a mosaic of vegetation types, although most studies in the BH focus solely on rocky outcrops. The aim of this project is to investigate current patterns of plant diversity in the BH, delineate biogeographical regions and vegetation distribution, and investigate the origin of BH lineages. Landcover classification will be performed with satellite images, floristic patterns will be investigated with herbarium data and the colonization of BH will be assessed using DEC on phylogenies compiled from literature.
