Ternstroemia Mutis ex L.f. (Pentaphylacaceae) in Focus! Uncovering the Neotropical
Plant Biodiversity with Integrated Taxonomy Analyses.
Project summary:
Ternstroemia (Pentaphylacaceae) has 156 species with tropical and subtropical distribution, and greater richness distributed in the Neotropical region, where 105 species are recognized. Although much of its diversity is in the Neotropical region, the genus has gaps in knowledge, collection and information. The genus has been studied by a group of Brazilian researchers, who are carrying out an integrative study (taxonomy, palynology, morphometry, phylogeny, barcoding and phytochemistry). This project aims to raise funds for the collection of Ternstroemia species from South America.
