Impact of climatic niche on plant evolution: Systematic and phylogenetic
comparative studies in Miconia sect. Discolor (Miconieae, Melastoamtaceae)

Project summary:

Climatic niche shifts can impose novel selective regimes to plant species, leading them to either extinction or adaptation. In Neotropical lowlands, species within Miconia sect. Discolor have occupied vegetations under contrasting climates. The project aims to infer phylogenetic relationships of Amazonian lineages and assess selective regimes under different climatic niches.
