Phylogenetic analysis of the rare lichen Sticta canariensis and its photobionts
Project summary:
This project will be part of an ongoing study documenting the genetic diversity of the rare lichen Sticta canariensis across its species range. I propose to collect material in Scotland, an unsampled area of high abundance. These collections will be used to generate multi-gene phylogenies of the three major members of this lichen symbiosis (fungi, alga, and cyanobacteria).
