Project summary:

The remaining genus is Vasconcellea that is the largest genus in the family Caricaceae, encompassing twenty species distributed from Ecuador and Peru. This diversity is currently unknown and is not studied in detail. Under this scenario, we seek to explore the appropriate taxonomy of this diversity of mountain papayas for its preservation, using genomic sequencing techniques. Materials will be characterized morphologically according to Badillo and confirmed with genomic DNA analysis.
