The genus Pectis (Asteraceae) in the State of Sonora, Mexico: richness and distribution.
Project summary:
This project will conduct a herbarium-based taxonomic revision of the genus Pectis (Asteraceae) in the State of Sonora, Mexico, where 14 species have been reported but no modern systematic treatment exists. The study will examine specimens housed at the USON, ASU, and ARIZ herbaria to verify identifications, review nomenclature, and document species distributions. Morphological analyses and georeferenced data will be used to produce updated species descriptions and distribution maps, providing a taxonomic framework for future ecological, evolutionary, and conservation studies.
