Investigating the Carolinensis Clade of Alpinia Roxb.: Expedition to Lore Lindu National Park
Project summary:
Molecular studies have challenged the traditional classification of Alpinia Roxb. Alpinia is a polymorphic genus consisting of six clades distributed within the Alpiniae supertree, one of that is the Carolinensis clade. To investigate the Carolinensis clade's evolution, we will collect plant materials from Sulawesi, construct a phylogenetic tree, and study habitat and pollinator interactions. The study aims to address the clade's classification, monoecious nature, and differences in habitat and pollinator interactions from its hermaphrodite relatives.
