Objective:
1.Enable the acceleration of specimen collection processing;
2.Expand data storage;
3.Reduce air humidity in the collection environment under air conditioning maintenance;
4..Keep the photographic record of the species included in the collection;
5. Increase the visibility of the species collection of the Caatinga Domain in the Paraíba state, allowing access to distant researchers.
Timetable:
January (2022) - acquisition of the dehumidifier and mounting papers for the production of exsiccates
February (2022) - acquisition of external hard drive and camera
March (2022) - organization of the HCES herbarium site

The HCES herbarium maintains a collection of specimens from the Agreste region in the Caatinga Paraibana. As this is a floristically unknown area, maintaining adequate conservation conditions is of paramount importance. Therefore, we will increase material resources by acquiring a large number of mounting papers for making the exsiccates, accelerating the incorporation of specimens into the collection. So that we can work with a greater amount of data, including images, we will keep the images on an external HD so as not to overload the computer's memory that contains the collection's database. In order to obtain optimal image quality of diagnostic characters of the species in the field, we need a camera with good resolution. Under the climatic conditions of the Brazilian semiarid region, the herbarium is kept at a low temperature, which promotes a high concentration of moisture, harming the collection. For this we need a dehumidifier to collect excess moisture in the air. To provide access to the collection, images of the material in exsiccate can be viewed through the herbarium's website.
