Objective:
The aim of the project is to identify new populations of rare and protected plant species in the Marx and Arkadak districts of Saratov region, study the status of populations, replenish the SARBG herbarium fund, recommend the preservation of rare and protected populations plant species. New populations will be established and long-standing finds of rare and protected species will be confirmed. This will allow us to recommend new territories for protection and to obtain information for the next edition of the Red Book of the Saratov region. It is planned to collect at least 800 sheets of herb.
Plan:
Biological diversity has recently been disappearing at a catastrophic rate. Continuous monitoring of biodiversity, optimization of the structure of all its main levels, and the study of reserves of rare and endangered species are necessary for the systematic and purposeful organization of the exploitation, protection and renewal of natural resources. The Arkadak and Marx districts of Saratov region are the least studied from the point of view of flora, do not have any specially natural protected territory, although they are of interest from the point of view of botany. The greatest botanical interest is the wide floodplain valley of Hoper - a zone of marshes, stares and lakes (Arkadak district) and the Tract of "Three Mara" and valleys of small rivers of the Volga Basin (Marx district). According to reports, SARBG have very few fees from these areas of the region, expeditions will allow to replenish the fund with fees not only rare and protected species, but also species-introductions, as well as background species.
Timetable:
January-April 2020 - preparation for expeditions, study of literary material, notes, briefs, Materials of the Red Book, etc.
April-October 2020 - organization and conduct of expeditionary research in the Marx and Arkadak districts of Saratov region. Fixing and mapping populations of rare and protected plant species. Collecting herbarium.
April - October 2020 - herbarium treatment (drying, clean labeling, definition).
October-December 2020 - herbarium treatment (cold treatment, chemical treatment, transfer to clean mounting paper (liners and shirts)), input information into the Database SARBG, inseration to the fund.
October-December 2020 - preparation and writing of notes, talking points, articles and materials at the conference of different rank based on the results of the expeditions of the field season 2020. Final report of SCG.
