Objective:
Update the information and improve the conditioning of Type specimens stored in the Forest Herbarium (MOL).
Plan:
Update of the Forest Herbarium (MOL) database:
-Includes the revision of the database, location of the type specimens in the matrix herbarium, Collection of published information that cites type specimens (JSTOR and others), as well as a selection of the collections cited in the Herbarium database. Finally, the location and selection of the type specimens of the matrix herbarium for conditioning.
-Specialized curatorship. Sanitary treatment and cleansing, reconstruction of damaged botanical material, voucher review and determination labels. Each specimen will be covered with white tissue paper, then placed inside a 14 gauge white folk cardboard card folder and finally covered by an orange Canson cardboard folder that will have a label identifying it as a type specimen. For preserved specimens in alcohol, the preservative liquid and damaged containers will be renewed. This includes changing labels.
-Systematization. - Voucher information completion of the specimens and the data of the reference publications in the Herbarium database.
-Digitalization. - High-resolution photography of the type specimens using the MOL Herbarium photo module. In addition, a folder will be prepared with all digital information that will be available for incorporation into the Digital Herbarium-Atrium online platform.
-Reincorporation of type specimens to the parent Herbarium. Once the process is completed, the specimens in the respective cabinets.
Timetable:
The project will be executed in 6 months.
-Revision (6 weeks): First and second week: a review of the database. Third to sixth week: location, selection and relocation of type specimens of the matrix herbarium.
-Conditioning (12 weeks): First week: preparation of conditioning material, assembly and labeling. Second to the eighth week: specialized curatorship and rotary health treatment. Ninth to twelfth week: specialized treatment of samples in alcohol.
-Systematization (4 weeks): complete the information of the vouchers and publications.
-Digitalization of specimens (4 weeks): photographed and coding of type specimens.
-Re-incorporation of specimens (2 weeks): Type specimens will be relocated in their respective cabinets.
