Herbarium FLOR: Manegement improvement, security and users control

Silvia Venturi

Brazil

Conserve

Cost: $

2000

FLOR

Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina

Objective:

1 - Control the access of people to the herbarium collection and curation rooms, in order to better protect samples and equipment
2 - Improve collection management and agilizing inclusion and assembly of exsiccates
3 - Improvement of didactic and divulgation resources of the collection

Plan:

1 - Control users more efficiently through the installation of electronic locks that only allow access to previously registered people. The collection currently has its doors accessible to anyone 24 hours a day, without any control, at the risk of being accessed by persons without proper training or information, which may cause irreversible disorganization in the collection.

2 - Purchase of a paper guillotine capable of cutting A3 size paper will allow agility and better finishing in the assembly of plant samples.

3 - The installation of exhibition tables inside the collection room, besides making the environment more beautiful, will allow the external visitors a better exposition and explanation of what is a Herbarium, encouraging the scientific curiosity in these visitors, specially children students who frequently visit us.

Timetable:

As the requested budget refers only to the purchase of equipment, they will be put into use at the moment they are purchased, which is expected to be completed before July 2020.
