Karachay-Circassian State University named after U.D. Aliyeva

Objective:

Systematic fees began in 2015, then a herbarium was created in 2017 at the Karachay-Cirkassian State University named after U.D. Aliyev. In total, about 20 thousand specimens of higher vascular plants of the North Caucasus were collected. More than half of the herbarium is identified, but samples were not mounted.
A room was allocated for storing samples and metal cabinets (10 pieces) were purchased, a freezer and a computer were purchased. Scanners, paper, standard labels needed.
The goal is to mount and digitize herbarium specimens.

Plan:

1. Production of standard labels - 25,000 pieces (university funds) and then writing information about the name (determination of 2,000 samples according to Grossheim, 1949; Kosenko, 1970; Galushko, 1978; Zernov et al., 2015, USSR Flora in XXX volumes, as well as a comparison of some taxonomically complex samples by email with those stored in the leading herbariums of the world, to clarify the species), the place of collection of the plant, the date and name of the collector on standard labels for 2 thousand samples collected within Karachaevo-Circassian Republic, sticking;
2. Mounting 2000 pieces - sewing on the sample and gluing some parts of the plant;
3. Production of 25,000 barcodes and assignment of a unique number (barcode) to the herbarium specimen - the same 2,000;
4. Purchase of an A3 format scanner and digitization of a herbarium specimen - the same 2.000;
5. The incubation of the herbarium specimen according to a conditional serial number - the index of Dell Torre and Garms (according to the compendium of A. Engler's system) - the same 2.000 herbarium specimens.

Timetable:

Determination of 2000 samples and their comparison to clarify the species - April-November.
Assignment of a unique number (barcode) to the herbarium specimen - the same 2000
Mounting of 2 thousand herbarium specimens with all labels (April-June);
Digitization (July-November) with subsequent insertion - the same 2000 herbarium specimens.
