Call for proposals to revise the Cultivated Plant Code

The revision of the International Code of Nomenclature for Cultivated Plants (ICNCP) follows meetings of the IUBS International Commission for the Nomenclature of Cultivated Plants to agree any changes to the Code. The next meeting will occur following the International Symposium on the Taxonomy of Cultivated Plants to be held in Singapore in 25 February – 1 March 2019.

The current Cultivated Plant Code (the ninth edition, published by the ISHS in 2016) can be found on the ISHS website (https://www.ishs.org/scripta-horticulturae/international-code-nomenclature-cultivated-plants-ninth-edition ).

Proposals to amend the Code should be sent direct to the Commission Chairman, ICNCP, c/o The Royal Horticultural Society’s Garden, Wisley, Woking, Surrey GU23 6QB, UK or by email to icncp@rhs.org.uk. The final date for submissions will be 1 January 2019.

The format of the proposals should ideally be consistent with the proposals published in Hanburyana volume 7 (2013) which can be viewed here: https://www.rhs.org.uk/about-the-rhs/pdfs/publications/hanburyana/Vol-7-July-2013/hanburyana7web.pdf

All proposals received before 1 January 2019 will also be made available electronically, so that they may be debated more widely and comments relayed to the Commission, and arrangements for this will be provided nearer the time.

John David

Chairman, IUBS International Commission for the Nomenclature of Cultivated Plants
