Objective:
Return Type specimens and additional samples received on loan to be revised by the postulant on the frame of the Ph.D. project entitled “Biosystematic and phylogeny of the species of Philonotis Brid. (Bartramiaceae, Bryophyta) in southern South America” to the corresponding herbaria.
Timetable:
As the samples have been already analyzed by the postulant, in case of being benefited with this grant, it is expected to be able to return all the samples during the 2020 period.

CTES Herbarium from the Instituto de Botánica del Nordeste (IBONE) has been founded in 1965 by Drs. Krapovickas and Cristobal, and preserves ca. 500,000 samples of vascular plants; 30,000 of lichens; 8,000 of fungi and only around 2,000 samples of bryophytes. Although the herbarium preserves a well-documented collection of the vascular flora, the bryophyte collection is still in an incipient growth.
As a PhD student of IBONE during the 2012-2017 period, I was able to receive several loans with Type samples and additional of Bartramiaceae species from important international herbaria (BM, CONC, H, JE, PC, S, SP among others). These loans allowed me to carry out the revision of Philonotis species in southern South America resulting in the production of several papers (see CV). This thesis represents the first bryological research performed in CTES (IBONE), being at the present the only one Bryologist in the northeastern of Argentina responsible to collect, determined, and manage the Bryophyte collection of this herbarium.
As it is of public knowledge, the current socio-economic and political situation of Argentina has generated a great devaluation of our money, making extremely expensive to return loans. For the reason above exposed, the objective of this project is to use the funds of this grant to return the samples asked on loan to their belonging herbaria. In the case of being benefited with the grant, the money will be spent to pay packing and shipping costs of devolutions
