Botanical exploration of the Bandoumkassa Submontane Cloud forests (West region) of Cameroon
Project summary:
Afrotropical regions are highly diverse but are subject to biodiversity loss such that extinction rates are now alarming. Surprisingly, there exists intact vegetation which has never been surveyed without any known botanical records. We envisaged two expeditions to the botanically unknown Bandoumkassa Submontane Cloud Forests of Cameroon. The immediate results include the collection of about 3500 duplicates of botanical specimens with associated silica gel materials, publication of new taxa, and train two master students.
