Natural history of the american mangosteens: phylogenetics
and taxonomy of Garcinia L. (Clusiaceae) in the New World

Project summary:

The study aims to investigate the diversity and evolution of the genus Garcinia L. (Clusiaceae) in the Neotropical region. Thus, the study seeks to answer: Are all Neotropical species of Garcinia part of a single lineage? What are the morphological characteristics that can be used to define the lineages and how did they evolve? The objective is to produce a robust phylogeny for Neotropical species from genomic and morphological data, allowing us to understand the evolutionary relationships that led to Neotropical diversity, as well as to propose a taxonomic revision for the Neotropical region,
