Taxonomy and Phylogeny of Genus Justicia L. (Acanthaceae: Justicieae: Justiciinae) in Peru
Project summary:
Justicia L. is a complex genus with scarce sampling in Peru despite being one of the diversity centres of the genus. The project aims to revise the taxonomy of Justicia in Peru and to analyse the phylogenetic relationships among species and with related genera Cephalacanthus and Megaskepasma since these two genera are present in Peru. Moreover, to provide new insights into the monophyly of the sections within New World Justicia species. IAPT Grant will help with the development of fieldwork and herbaria visits to Peru to have a denser sampling for the morphological and molecular analysis.
