Phylogeny and taxonomic review of Miconia octona and Miconia strigillosa clades (Melastomataceae, Miconieae)
Project summary:
I am requesting $2,000.00 to enhance my doctoral dissertation research on the phylogeny and taxonomic review of Miconia octona and Miconia strigillosa clades. This aims to provide a phylogenetic framework for further analysis of biogeography, morphology, and evolution. The funds will allow me to conduct fieldwork and do herbarium work in Brazil. Field expeditions and visits to herbaria are crucial stages in conducting this work, as the species comprising the clades exhibit a wide geographic distribution and significant morphological variation.
