Taxonomic Revision and Molecular Phylogeny of the genus Bupleurum (Apiaceae) in India

Project summary:

Bupleurum is one of the largest genus in the family Apiaceae. About 30 species of Bupleurum were reported from India with major distribution in the Himalayan regions. Several misidentifications had been frequented in the past due to its similarity in gross morphology between allied taxa within the genus. Due to these reason this is the most under represented genus of Apiaceae in various Indian herbaria, which makes it difficult to study the distributional status of individual taxa.Hence, an in-depth taxonomic and molecular study of this genus in India is urgently needed.
