SPECIATION AND POLYPLOIDY IN Herbertia Sweet: EXPLORING EVOLUTION AND CONSERVATION IN THE SOUTHERN GRASSLANDS OF BRAZIL
Project summary:
We will investigate the role of polyploidy in Herbertia Sweet (Iridaceae) speciation and adaptation by analyzing the karyotypic evolution and reproductive mechanisms of H. lahue, H. quareimana, and H. pulchella. Our findings will clarify their taxonomy and support conservation strategies in the Brazilian Pampa and Atlantic Forest amid climate change.
