Genera delimitation and floral evolution in the Cyclanthera clade (Cucurbitaceae, Sicyoeae)
Project summary:
This PhD project proposes the reconstruction of a phylogenetic hypothesis that re-evaluates the generic limits of the Cyclanthera clade (Cyclanthera + Pseudocyclanthera + Rytidostylis + Hanburia, Cucurbitaceae, Sicyoeae), while explaining the origin and diversity of the particular floral morphology in this group. To date, I have almost completed the phylogenetic reconstruction of the clade . The 2024 IAPT grant will support the morphological studies required to complete the PhD project, thus allow a more accurate systematic and taxonomical rearrangement of the Cyclanthera clade.
