Project summary:

The proposed research aims to investigate natural hybridization and introgression between species of sympatricly growing Rhodohypoxis species and Hypoxis parvula. Leaf material will be collected from mature Rhodohypoxis and Hypoxis parvula plants at three hybrid zones, placed into individual bags with silica gel and will be studied using chromosome squashs, microsatellites and flow cytometry.
