MORPHOLOGY, MOLECULAR SEQUENCING AND THERAPEAUTIC POTENTIAL OF THE KENYAN VARIETIES OF DODONAEA

Project summary:

The relationship between the two Kenyan taxa (i.e Dodonaea viscosa and Dodonaea . angustifolia) has been quite confusing. D. angustifolia is considered by some taxonomists to be synonymous with D. viscosa (Leenhouts, 1983) while others recognize it as a sub-species of D. viscosa (West, 1984). There are still others who recognize it as a distinct species (Beentje, 1994). Due to the confusion of the two Kenyan varieties, there is need to do an in-depth search to clearly distinguish the two and determine their therapeutic potential.
