Systematics of Passiflora supersections Coccinea and Distephana (Passifloraceae s.s.) from Brazil
Project summary:
The red-flowered Passiflora L. species are notable by their exuberant scarlet flowers, leaf shape, and speckled, variegated, juicy fruit. These supersections have a controversial circumscription because they lack a revision of species, consistent identification of complex taxa, and morphological detailing. In addition, palynological studies provide valuable support for the classification of passionflowers. In this regard, this project aims to evaluate the circumscription of the Brazilian species and provide new taxonomic and palynological records.
