Systematic Study of Genus Monophyllaea spp. (Family Gesneriaceae) from Western of Sarawak.

Project summary:

Limestone habitat is a home for many endemic herbaceous plants. Among the unique plant that thriving well in the limestone habitat is a one-leaf plant or scientifically known as Monophyllaea. About 21 taxa of Monophyllaea occurring in Sarawak. The Monophyllaea are unique and sensitive to the ecological disturbance and therefore can be considered as habitat indicator for limestone disturbance. However, very few scientific studies have been done for this important plant. Field excursions will be conducted at selected locations in Sarawak (particularly limestone areas in western of Sarawak).
