Phylogenetic and systematic study of the genus Guadua (Poaceae, Bambusoideae, Bambuseae) based on morphological, anatomical, and molecular characters

Project summary:

Guadua comprises 33 species and so far there are no phylogenetic studies that cover the entire genus. Given the limited knowledge and increasing practical and economic importance of Guadua species, there is a clear need for a robust phylogeny of the genus, based on both morphological and molecular evidence, to serve as a general framework for systematic revision. We hope to be able to visit some Mexican herbaria, for the revision of specimens of species of this genus that have a distribution restricted to this geographical area.
