Filling gaps in the Taxonomic Study of the Miconia strigillosa and Miconia octona clades (Melastomataceae, Miconieae)

Project summary:

I am requesting $2,000 to support my PhD research on the Miconia octona and Miconia strigillosa clades. The funds will be used for important fieldwork and herbarium studies in Brazil. The grant will support visits to key herbaria with important collections of these clades. Additionally, fieldwork in the Amazon biome, where many of these species occur, will help us photograph and document important morphological traits, as well as collect samples of species that have not been studied enough and lack enough DNA and morphological data.
