Integrative taxonomy and systematics of a species complex in Chromolaena (Asteraceae, Eupatorieae, Praxelinae)
Project summary:
The aim os this study is to investigate the identity, evolution and relationship of the taxa included in the "Chromolaena congesta complex" through morphometric, cytogenetic and phylogenetic analyses. This group of species is distributed through southeastern South America and is common in both dry and highland grasslands, althrough some species are rarer than others. A better understanding of the taxonomy and systematics of these species should help us in further studies with other taxonomically challenging groups in Chromolaena, one of the biggest and most widespread genera in Eupatorieae
