Studying Carex (Cyperaceae) of Thailand as a launch pad towards a comprehensive Southeast Asian sedge flora

Project summary:

Carex (Cyperaceae) is a hyperdiverse genus (ca. 2,000 species), for which a few lineages have diversified in tropical regions, with Southeast Asia being the most biodiverse for Carex. Nevertheless, these species are still poorly understood. The overarching goal of the project is to overcome this knowledge gap by undertaking a comprehensive revision of the Thailand sedge flora, training students and building a network of cyperologists.
