Building a near-infrared spectral library to reveal new species of Ecclinusa (Sapotaceae, Chrysophylloideae) in South America

Project summary:

This proposal requests funding to visit key collections in Brazil, including IAN and MG (North), CEPEC, ALCB, HUEFS (Northeast), VIES, RB, and ESA (Southeast). The main goal is to obtain near-infrared spectral data, focusing on type specimens and others that have not yet been sampled. The initiative will allow for the updated identification of undetermined Ecclinusa specimens and related genera, as well as promote the use of spectroscopy in plant taxonomy through short training sessions at each visited institution.
