Underground underdogs: Unveiling the phylogenetics and pollination biology of Southeast Asian earth figs, Ficus subser. Geocarpicae (Moraceae), in Borneo

Project summary:

Earth figs are understudied fig trees that fruit underground on root-like stolons. Despite similar ecological niches and dense sympatric growth, they appear to be genetically isolated. Fieldwork in Borneo will help explain their diversity by studying phylogenetic relationships and plant scents.
