Taxonomy first: revising the Guapira-Neea clade (Nyctaginaceae) in Brazil as a foundation for future phylogenomics
Project summary:
Guapira and Neea (Nyctaginaceae) are Neotropical genera that represent a rapidly radiating lineage in which traditional phylogenetic approaches are insufficient to resolve species relationships. However, the bulk of the diversity of these genera remains undocumented, with numerous herbarium specimens still unidentified at the species level. Examination of material from multiple herbaria is therefore essential to establish robust species delimitation, which is a necessary prerequisite for subsequent phylogenomic analyses.
