Biogeography and Conservation of Neotropical Rapateaceae (Poales)

Project summary:

In this project, we propose to use the Neotropical species of Rapateaceae (Poales) to understand patterns of biodiversity using various biogeographic approaches. More specifically, we will explore: (i) patterns and species richness, (ii) infer bioregions, (iii) estimate areas of endemism, and (iv) propose a Red List for the group. For that, in this study, we will use occurrence data available from Virtual Herbariums and new field expeditions. Finally, our results will contribute to a better taxonomic and geographic understanding of Neotropical biodiversity and flora conservation.
