An integrative study of Parmotrema (Parmeliaceae) from the Brazilian Cerrado

Project summary:

The diversity of lichenized fungi in Brazil is still little known, especially in the Brazilian Cerrado. The few existing floristic studies show that the diversity of Parmeliaceae in the Cerrado is high, however, molecular studies with species from this biome are non-existent. Thus, this study aims to use an integrative approach based on morphological and chemical characteristics associated with the DNA barcoding (nuITS region) to identify the Parmotrema species found in Cerrado, focusing in the west part of it, especially the states of Mato Grosso and Mato Grosso do Sul.

Gray (Collemataceae, Peltigerales) from Rio Grande do Sul State with an identification key for the genus. Anais da Academia Brasileira de Ciências 91(1): e20180313. We conducted a study of Leptogium specimens collected in different cities in the state of the Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. From morphological and anatomical analyses we found 1 new species and 28 records, we obtained a 57% increase in the known diversity of Leptogium for the state. In this study I participated in the collections of some cities, such as Pelotas and Rio Grande, in the identification of some specimens and in the writing of the text.

Leptogium (Collemataceae, Peltigerales) from Mato Grosso do Sul state, Brazil: nine new records, three new taxa and a key for the species. Phytotaxa 399 (2): 127–146. We conducted a study of Leptogium specimens collected in the Pantanal, Chaco and Cerrado biomes in the state of Mato Grosso do Sul, Brazil. From morphological and anatomical analyses we found 3 new species for science, 9 records for the state and 1 new record for the American continent. In this study I participated in some collection expeditions, in the identification of specimens and in the writing of the text.
