The tribe Heliantheae Cass. (Asteraceae) in the Brazilian Pantanal: taxonomy, conservation, and geographic distribution

Project summary:

This study is to survey the floristic status, geographic distribution, and conservation of Heliantheae (Asteraceae) species occurring in the Brazilian Pantanal. Due to the climate and relief characteristics that condition the local vegetation, the Heliantheae flora in the region is rich in species number and composed of little-known, rare, and endemic taxa, in addition to some others of wide ecological valence. Some taxa present serious threat risk due to the strong pressure from agribusiness, especially by the advance of agricultural frontiers.
