Correlating genome size, ploidy level, and reproductive mode variation by using a phylogenetic approach in Globba L. (Zingiberaceae)
Project summary:
Objectives: Phylogenetic reconstruction of the genus Globba with 80% species coverage will be carried out to address:
1. Is there any relation between ploidy level and reproductive mode variation?
2. Is polyploidy clade-specific or does it show multiple independent origins?
Methods: we will first collect all the Indian Globba species for the phylogenetic reconstruction. we will do the genome size estimation and then map the genome size on a phylogenetic tree to see the evolution of ploidy in Globba L. (Zingiberaceae)
