Establishing the Phylogenetic Position of Pentacrostigma, Convolvulaceae: A Malagasy-Endemic genus.

Project summary:

Big plant genera have recently been of interest to taxonomists globally. One such genus is Ipomoea which contains over 600 accepted species. Ipomoea is commonly known for its economically important crop sweet potato and its crop wild relatives. Akin to big genera, Ipomoea has had its share of taxonomic uncertainties however, the recently approved change of the type species of the genus has opened up possibilities for infra-generic re-classifications within Ipomoea. As a result, Stictocardia, Turbina, Argyreia, and Astripomoea have been reinstated back to their generic ranks. Furthermore, one
