Advances in the systematics of the tribe Dalbergieae (Leguminosae, Papilionoideae): untangling the taxonomy of the Amazonian species of Machaerium.
Project summary:
With around 130 species, Machaerium Pers. is one of the largest woody legume genera across tropical America. The Amazonian basin encompasses a total of 41 species. However, no comprehensive taxonomic study has been attempted previously involving all countries in this region, with many species known only from their type material. The IAPT grant would facilitate the applicant’s access to the main Amazonian herbaria, crucial for the efficient development of a future full taxonomic monograph of the genus.
