TAXONOMY, PHYLOGENY AND MORPHOANATOMY OF TAXA RELATED TO THE AYAHUASCA VINE (MALPIGHIACEAE JUSS.)
Project summary:
Originally used by indigenous, Ayahuasca is a psychoactive beverage made mainly with Banisteriopsis caapi and Psychotria viridis. There is the recognition of many different ethnotaxa by the traditional communities. Many of these were formally accepted as species for authors but there are divergences and the comprehension of these entities is difficult because of few fertile herbarium samples. This proposal emphasizes that the collection in the Amazon biome and correct identification are essential to support research.
