Systematic studies in Agarista (Ericaceae): phylogeny and taxonomic revision of the Neotropical species.

Project summary:

Agarista sect. Agarista comprises 30 Neotropical species with center of diversity along the mountains of Eastern Brazil. No recent taxonomic revision nor a phylogenetic hypothesis are available. I aim to provide a phylogenetic hypothesis and taxonomically revise the section, reevaluating morphological characters and clarifying evolutionary relationships.

Relevant publications (minimum 1, maximum 4):

My Master's work with the Ericaceae family for the state of Rio Grande do Sul has resulted so far in a summary published in the annals of the 70th National Congress of Botany (Brazil) entitled "Ericaceae na Flora of Rio Grande do Sul". Three more articles are in the process of being published at the end of my Master's (March 2020). The project for which I am requesting financing does not yet have specific works related to it published because it is the work to be developed in my PhD that will start in April 2020.
