Molecular phylogeny, carbohydrate-active enzymes profiling and mycorrhizal development of Kalahari Desert truffle; Kalaharituber pfeilii
Project summary:
My study intends to characterize Kalahari truffles (Kalaharituber pfeilii) found in Namibia in terms of morphology, nutrition and phylogeny. The study will also assess the carbohydrate active enzymes profile in truffles and develop mycorrhizas by inoculating host plants with truffle spores in effort to domesticate and cultivate Kalahari truffles ex-situ.
