Towards a taxonomic revision of Manettia (Rubiaceae), a group of Neotropical lianas in the Coffee family
Project summary:
Manettia is a Neotropical genus of vines belonging to the tribe Spermacoceae, comprising approximately 80–130 species. Recent studies in the southern cone of South America indicate that the genus has not been adequately studied in the high-Andean region, where most of its species occur, and that significant taxonomic and nomenclatural gaps persist in Manettia within the floras of Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Venezuela. In this context, improving species delimitation and establishing a solid basis for future ecological, biogeographical and molecular research is necessary.
