Assessing the Biodiversity and Regeneration Status of Inselberg, in Ikere-Ekiti, Southwestern Nigeria

Project summary:

Few studies exists on the biodiversity and conservation as well as regeneration status of Inselbergs in Southwestern Nigeria. It offers important landscape to arrays of plant life forms such as small sized trees, shrubs, ferns, saxicolous bryophytes and lichens and maintenance of such biodiversity. Most of the inselbergs have been vulnerable to anthropogenic activities. There is therefore, the need to assess the taxonomy of plant species endemic to theses areas towards conservation, restoration and maintenance of ecological services offered by these ecosystems in Nigeria.
