Taxonomic study of the pantropical genus Polystachya (Orchidaceae) for the Biogeographic Amazon
Project summary:
Polystachya Hook. (Orchidaceae) is a predominantly epiphytic genus with recognized taxonomic complexity. It has been taxonomically revised twice, but the identity of the Amazonian species is still ambiguous and controversial, since they are cryptic species with recognized similarity. Thus, we aim to carry out a taxonomic study of the genus for the Biogeographic Amazon, combining morphological studies with morphometry. Contributing to the knowledge of the Amazonian flora, subsidizing future biogeographic and molecular studies with the taxon.
