Taxonomic Revision and Molecular Phylogeny of the Genus Alternanthera Forrsk. (Amaranthaceae) in India
Project summary:
The project aims at performing the taxonomic revision and phylogenetic analysis of the genus Alternanthera in India. The work on this genus is meager and there is no proper documentation of the taxa in National herbariums. The proposed work will help to document the nomenclature (types and synonyms), morphology, preferential habitat and ecology, origin status, status of naturalization with possible threats to the environment and general chorology of Alternanthera species from India. Further, the phylogenetic analysis would verify the relationship among the studied taxa.
