Taxonomy and morphological evolution of Pappophorinae (Poaceae: Chloridoideae)
Project summary:
This proposal investigates the phylogenetic relationships, morphological evolution, and taxonomic boundaries of Pappophorinae (Poaceae: Chloridoideae) through comprehensive herbarium sampling, time-calibrated phylogenetic analyses, and micromorphological studies. We evaluate the evolutionary history of diagnostic characters, such as awns, microhairs, and siliceous cells, with the aim of improving the classification and evolutionary understanding of the subtribe.
