Objective:
The JBGP herbarium has since its foundation in 1978 received several internationally renowned explorers who have contributed to increasing its collection, turning it into the most important collection of plants in the Colombian Caribbean, a status that it intends to conserve. However, the lack of resources for materials and personnel has limited the maintenance and systematization of existing resources. Given this, we propose the following objectives:
1. Process backlog specimens
2. Taxonomic update of the Herbarium database
3. Restore damaged specimens included in the herbarium
Timetable:

1. Processing backlog specimens
a. Purchase of materials for herbarium:
We will purchase the necessary herbarium supplies for mounting new specimens of the vascular as well as non-vascular plant collections.
b. Review of the historical material collected in the JBGP Herbarium:
Historical backlog specimens from the '80s and '90s, most of them collected by Alwyn Gentry, will be reviewed and mounted. Missing labels will be printed, and specimens will be separated for mounting or exchange with other herbaria. All the specimens mounted will be included in the herbarium database.
2. Taxonomic update of the Herbarium database
a. General review of the current database and the JBGP Herbarium collection:
Due to the age of the database and the different restoration processes of the JBGP herbarium, the database may contain errors. Prior to the cataloging of new records, a review and validation process of collectors and localities will be carried out for the JBGP herbarium database.
b. Curation of specimen catalog databases:
A taxonomic update of the historic specimens will be performed.
3. Restore damaged specimens included in the herbarium
a. Curation of collections and restoration of specimens:
During the review of the database, all the specimens that make up the JBGP Herbarium will be reviewed in order to restore specimens that are in poor condition and update the taxonomy of each of the specimens to APG IV.
