Objective:
Digitalize 5,000 herbarium specimens (25% of the actual collection) and make a 30 watercolor illustrations (color witness) of endemic species of Chiapas for the preparation of an infographic, to publicize the richness of species to the communities and raise awareness for the conservation of species and natural plant communities that are currently in danger of disappearing.
Timetable:
Scanner of Herbarium specimen:
Each month we are planning to scanner 850 herbarium specimen during six months (5,100 specimens in total).
Watercolor illustration:
During one year, each two month we considered to make five illustrations of native or endemic species of Chiapas (30 illustrations in total).
Infographic:
With the scanner specimens and watercolor illustration, we plan to make an infographic book in one month.

We have a scanner (Epson Expression 12000xl) and about 5,000 herbarium specimens have been scanned (about 25%). It would be expected that another 5,000 specimens will be scanned within 6 months.
We have been offer a courses in Botanical Scientific Illustration (Antigua Academia de San Carlos, UNAM; ECOSUR, Chiapas, Mexico; University of San Carlos, Guatemala) and has participated in three exhibitions (“Plantas Endemicas de México”, Universidad Autónoma de Chapingo May, 2018, “Worldwide Botanical Art Exhibition Outline” May, 2018; “XXI Congreso Mexicano de Botanica” Aguascalientes City, Mexico, October 2019) where emphasis was placed on publicizing the importance of illustration in the dissemination among the scientific and public community in general of Mexican species and in particular the endemic species of Mexico and the State of Chiapas and support the conservation of species and their communities where they are distributed and are currently in danger of disappearing. In collaboration with the students of the different workshops, graduates and professors, about 50 watercolor illustrations of the native species of Mexico have been made. With these grant we propose to create another 30 watercolor illustrations that would be expected within 12 months and at the end we make an infographic of some native and endemic species of Chiapas, Mexico. To raise public awareness of the great importance of knowing and conserving plant or natural resources that still persist in nature.
