Objective:
We urge to establish a university scale modern herbarium with digitalized specimen collections, a good resolution of images, and accessible database information to public and scientific community through website. We plan to pursue it in 3 objectives:
1. To establish a digital database of herbarium specimens
2. To generate a standardized workflow in herbarium
3. To build an online database on web portal
Timetable:
We will breakdown the timetable into 4 stages:
1. Benchmarking: team visits and receives training on specimen digitization at Herbarium Bogoriense (BO). (1 week)
2. Setting up space and procedure: The team develops, simulates, and evaluates the efficient standard operating procedure and workflow; purchases equipment and sets up digitization station (including renovation and repair). Validation on each specimens will continuously takes place. (4 weeks)
3. Digitizing: Volunteers training for one week. Target will be set up for approximately 7,200 fern and seed plant sheets are digitized (60 sheets/day/person), with ca. 100 genera are stored in proper genus cover. Evaluation will be held in the end of each month. (6 months)
4. Databasing: The team consults and develops the online database with the website developer. The team focuses on data upload, dissemination, and public test. the online database is established and accessible to students and public. (4 months)
