Objective:
The JBGP Herbarium, with more than 15,000 specimens, is the most important plant collection of the Colombian Caribbean. The Herbarium is in the process of data digitization and will soon publish all specimen data in GBIF as part of a BID-GBIF grant. In 2016 we photographed all specimens, part of which were published in a currently outdated portal. We aim to:
1. Systematize existing photograph database
2. Mobilize all specimen photographs to a permanent online image repository
3. Link photograph URL to the JBGP herbarium GBIF dataset

Objective 1: Systematize existing photograph database
The Cartagena Botanical Garden’s herbarium (JBGP) currently has around 11,500 photographs of specimens that have not yet been published in a standardized manner. These are saved in a hard drive and are named with a consecutive number. Therefore, the first objective is to systematize these existing photographs by naming the files according to the specimen catalogue number.
Objective 2: Mobilize all specimen photographs to a permanent online image repository
Once the photograph database has been systematized, all 11,500 photograph files will be uploaded to an online photograph repository. Currently, around 3,750 photographs have been published in Flicker (https://www.flickr.com/photos/134525203@N05/) without all the metadata and in a non-supported portal.
Objective 3: Link photograph URL to the JBGP herbarium GBIF dataset
The photograph URL will be included in the JBGP herbarium Darwin Core to link the photograph with each herbarium specimen. The herbarium dataset will be published in GBIF as part of an ongoing project with BID-GBIF.
